Sep 19, 2011 The overwhelming majority of USB flash drives you buy are going to come in one of two formats: FAT32 or NTFS. The first format, FAT32, is fully compatible with Mac OS. How do I download Mac OS X onto a flash drive on my PC? I have two used Mac Minis without an OS and no DVD player. I need to download a MAC OS onto my PC to a flash drive so I can install it on my Mac Minis. I don't want the MAC OS to try to auto install to my PC and create a huge problem. Mar 15, 2018 This application’s read-only nature isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It ensures that no bug in the third-party driver can damage your Mac-formatted drive and the files on it. You can set read-only mode in other applications, too–but, if you’re not going to.
Hi again, thanks for the links above, not sure what is going on but now, even on the command line I don't see it attached at all. The flash drive does work and I have copied files onto from the PC and still not recognized at all but there is a LED indicator to let me know that it is there and on. When I reattach the USB hub and another thumb drive both are detected and can be read.
The USB ports work for other items, and the drive is not seen by the system at all. here is what I find in the command line query,
mynetwork:~ Darryl$ diskutil list
/dev/disk0 (internal, physical):
#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
0: GUID_partition_scheme *1.0 TB disk0
1: EFI EFI 209.7 MB disk0s1
Update Flash Mac Os
2: Apple_CoreStorage Macintosh HD 999.7 GB disk0s2
Also now when I use the Disk Utility I only see the internal drive and any other USB Drives I attach or detach. I've restarted the pro and still it does get recognized, My concern is, it works everywhere else, what if I reformatted the unit to Apple HFS or redid it in FAT32 would it kill the disk and whatever program is on it to control the lightening connector.
I'll keep looking around the chatrooms and other places for some other takes on this but if you know an engineer or programmer that likes a challenge I've got lots. Thanks again for any suggestions.
